Cambodia 2005Three sites were selected for this first project :
The fountain has been installed in the buildings of the “Ecole de la soie” (school for silk working) created by two French NGOs.
The water is taken from the moat surrounding the ruins of the ancient Khmer temple. (more)
The natural pollution of underground water in this village made the use of surface water necessary. This requires installing a flocculation/decantation process to clarify the raw water. (more)
Unlike the other sites, the fountain installed in a Children’s home run by to the NGO “Enfants du Mékong” is self-service. (more)
The three fountains were set up simultaneously at the beginning of April 2005, that means during the high dry season (from January to June), and have been operational ever since. Note that the number of bottles sold during the dry season is twice that of the rainy season, when many people collect rain water which they suppose to be healthy as it appears to be clear enough. A summary of the main lessons learned is given in the document “Experience gained (
)”.
